August 7 - 6.0 Games Back - Wildcard Schedules

I have decided to take on the task of keeping up with the Ranger's wild card hunt this year. As of today they are 6.0 games back, after a loss to the Yankees and the Red Sox taking yet another one from lowly Kansas City. The good news is that we have 46 games left, and what I believe is one of the easiest schedules in the wild card race. Here is my breakdown of the schedules from the 6 teams I have decided are really in this thing (I leave Toronto out bc they have hands down the hardest schedule of all the teams within 10 games of winning, four series with Boston, three with the Yankees, two with Tampa and one with Minnesota and Chicago, I just have a really hard time believing the Jays can make it out of a treacherous late season schedule like this).

I also have not looked at the Angels, as they are so far ahead of the Ranger's they shouldn't have a problem locking the West up by the second week of September. As I will state later, I am hoping this will play to the Ranger's advantage. Here we go:

I have ranked these teams accordingly, giving a ranking to every team in the AL a number according to current American League standing. A "top tier team" get a 1 ranking, a "bottom of the barrel team" gets a 4 ranking. Home games get you 1/4 point, away games get you 0. I. E. if you are playing Seattle at home in a 3 game series (4 game series will have an additional .25 point added accordingly)you are awarded 4 points for the games and 2 for home field advantage, Angels on the road for 3, 3 points. Here are how the rankings shake out.
